Program Coordinator

Category: Non-Exempt – Full-Time Hourly
Position Title: Program Services Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Residential Services
General Purpose: Performs a variety of duties to coordinate the programs and services of Easter Seals Goodwill ND (ESGWND), Inc. as directed by the Director of Residential Services.

Essential Functions:
• Be fully aware and positively promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of ESGWND.
• Have a strong knowledge of ESGWND’s policies and procedures.
• Prepare and participate in the planning process and Person-Centered Plans by providing information to the team — by completing assessments and/or participating in meetings — about what you know to be the dreams and goals, strengths and needs of the people you support.
• Assure that the strategies set forth by family and the team are helping persons achieve their goals and realize their personal outcomes, and are carried out in formal and informal settings; and to assure that Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) document results so they can be used to determine if people are progressing toward their goals.
• Recruit DSPs. Conduct reference checks on DSP applicants.
• Interview, hire, train, and supervise DSPs to support people.
• Assure that DSPs are trained to assist people in administering their medications, and assure that people, their family members and DSPs are able to schedule, attend, participate, and follow recommendations received at medical appointments.
• Provide formal/informal direction and support to DSPs so they can support people to achieve their optimum health. Assure that DSPs are monitoring and documenting health information so complete and accurate information is available for the medical professional if person is seeking medical attention.
• Assure that people supported can manage their finances, seek financial assistance, maintain and protect their personal possessions, arrange for transportation, and be active in their community and use its resources.
• Assure that people supported can maintain their homes, which must comply with health, safety, and ESGWND standards.
• Assure that people look their best by providing needed assistance to complete grooming, hygiene, and clothing tasks.
• Assure that people supported meet their nutritional needs by encouraging them to eat balanced meals and snacks, and follow diet orders established by their doctor and/or family. Direct DSPs to prepare meals accordingly.
• Maintain an effective department through proper training.
• Maintain good Team Member relations.
• Participate in and use knowledge gained through The Council on Quality and Leadership in Supports for Persons with Disabilities and protocols established by ESGWND and the State of North Dakota Department of Human Services.
• Motivate Team Members and deal effectively with performance issues.

Qualifications/Basic Position Requirements:
 • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field plus one year of experience in working directly with people with developmental disabilities. Preference will be given to those who have a psychology, social work, education or gerontology degree.
• QDDP (Qualified Developmental Disability Professional).
• Become certified in CPR and First Aid; we provide paid training.
• Become certified in Developmental Disabilities according to a prescribed schedule for completion of modules; we provide paid training.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

• Ensure compliance with EWGSND’s policies and procedures and safety standards throughout regional work areas.
